TOP TEN WORST GOLF TIPS OF ALL TIME:
#10) ANYTHING that begins with the words "imagine," or "pretend." Sorry, golf
is REAL!
#9) Turn your back to the target. You CAN'T do it and no one does!
#8) Anything that suggests
that YOU possess a "swing plane." Check EVERY medical or anatomy book ever written and
you'll find that NOT ONE ever mentions your "swing plane." You don't have one. OR two!
#7) Your downswing starts with your feet. Not unless you're KICKING your golf
ball!
#6) ANY tip that involves your "swing path" that DOESN'T include mention of the one and
ONLY thing that "swing path" directly relates to. Your TARGET LINE!
#5) Anything that
mentions a wall, a barrel, a pipe, a hammer, cement, a pineapple, or a sickle. Yes, I've seen
ALL those. Never on a golf course though!
#4) Fire your right side. No, fire your current golf teacher!
#3) Swing the club with your hips. How
much does "hands to hips attachment"surgery cost?
#2) You get into "posture" by imagining
you are preparing to sit on a bar stool. If it HAS to be about a bar stool, the posture you want
is that you're ALREADY sitting on the edge of the stool, had too much to drink and need to throw up without getting any
on your shoes!
And the #1 WORST GOLF TIP OF ALL TIME:
Finish with your belt buckle pointed at your target. If
that IS how you finish your swing, you'll miss EVERY SHOT right of target!
IGNORE anything that
starts with, "Here's a tip." Close your eyes, cover your ears and run away like you just saw the devil
himself!
The problem with golf "tips" is really simple. THEY NEVER HELP! Why? Because they
are ALWAYS incomplete information!
All they ever do is "hint" at the "problem" or the "answer."
You, as a human being, don't learn that way!
In order for you to understand and implement something, you must first understand what you SHOULD
be doing.
"Tips" are ALL ABOUT telling you what you're doing "wrong." That's
USELESS!
You must understand WHY what you're doing is wrong and even MORE importantly, WHAT is making you do
it.
Then, you must learn what is correct and WHY it's correct and HOW to have it make "sense"
to you.
Only THEN are you able to accomplish it.
THAT is how you learn. "Tips" lack all these
essential components.
I tried a little experiment the other day. I looked up "slice cures" on the
internet. Read a BUNCH of them and NOT ONE would EVER HELP YOU!
Why? Because NOT ONE
of them addressed the REAL cause of slicing! All the grip changing and stance changing, etc. WON'T HELP!
None of them identifies and
can eliminate the REASON you slice! C'mon, I CANNOT be the ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS THIS!
However, since no
one ever addresses it, I'm left to conclude only two possibilities.
Either NO ONE ELSE knows what I know, or they DO
and they're not telling you. Either way...my question is "WHY?"
